The alluvial soil area of 7,718 ha accounts for 1.06% of the total natural area of the province;
The peat and peat group covers an area of about 11ha;
The yellow-red soil group covers an area of 408,563 ha, accounting for 60.8%;
The group of humus on high mountains with an area of 194 ha accounts for 0.03%;
The group of carbonate soil covers an area of 6,322 ha, accounting for 0.94%;
The black soil group covers an area of 127 hectares, accounting for 0.02%;
The group of reddish yellow humus soil on the mountain is about 63,054 ha, accounting for 9.38;
The soil is eroded with soil and gravel, 2,420 ha, accounting for 0.36%.

Annual average water surface potential is about 10.5 billion m3 in which, amount of water flowed from the outside is 5.4 billion m3 (from China is 3.5 billion m3 , from Nho Que River is 1.9 billion m3 ) and amount of water flow in Cao Bang Province is 5.1 billion m3 .

► With the above climatic characteristics in Cao Bang, it is allowed to plant many short-term crops of the year, but heavy rains in the rainy months often cause floods, landslides and in the dry season, the humidity coefficient low wetness often causes drought if additional irrigation water is not resolved.
Most of Cao Bang’s area is covered with forests so the air is quite clean in rural areas, residential areas and in the city center.
However, due to the large ore output and indiscriminate exploitation and strict management, the main roads of Cao Bang have high levels of dust pollution. The river water is heavily polluted due to the sense of dumping people’s debris, along with the mining and sand mining industry, which has polluted the rivers here, narrowing the flow and the ecosystem is affected. Especially in market areas and residential areas, the river water has a stench phenomenon.
The main means of transportation in the province are motorbikes, the means of transportation rarely make fuel consumption not high. Cao Bang is not polluted by greenhouse gas emissions and many other toxic gases. Compared to other localities of Vietnam, Cao Bang is one of the provinces with the freshest air and least polluted climate.
