DALAT TOPOGRAPHIC AND CLIMATE

DALAT TOPOGRAPHIC

Dalat city, located on the Langbiang Plateau with an average altitude of 1500m, is the upstream of many large river systems: Dong Nai, Da Dung….Dalat is also an oval valley surrounded by 2163m Langbiang mountain (on the Northern), Elephant Mountain (on the West – Southwest), 1732m Lap Be Nord and 1702m Lap Be Sud (East) within an area of 424km2. So, from Xuan Huong lake, we can see Langbiang peak and some architectural works built by the French. An oval valley suitables for a resort metropolis with  undulating hills and mountains and hidden villas and mansions in the pine forest. Does it look like some pretty mushrooms hiding in the pine forest? A feature that is rarely found anywhere.

DA LAT CLIMATE

Dalat’s with the latitude of 11o57 is located in the tropics but has a temperate climate because it is at an altitude of over 1500m. For every 180m, the temperature decreases by 1oC. The highest temperature is 24oC, the lowest is 5oC and the average temperature is 18oC. Similar to the general climate of Vietnam, Da Lat also has two distinct seasons: the rainy season and the dry season.

The rainy and warm season lasts from April to November, it often rains in the afternoon, foggy in the morning, but the sky is clear and windy when the sun rises.

The dry and cold season is from December to March. The climate is relatively comfortable and suitable for tourism, especially from December to February coinciding with the Christmas, New Year and Lunar New Year of Vietnamese and the Flower Festival organized once every 2 years!

Da Lat has the advantage of being located at an altitude of more than 1500m, so the climate is always cool all year round even in summer and a bit cold in winter.

On beautiful days, Da Lat seems to have four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, which are expressed through four moments: Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Evening. That is considered as an interesting thing that visitors can experience about Da Lat’s climate.

The dry season in Da Lat starts from December to March of the following year, and the rainy season from April to November. The nature of the monsoon is also reflected clearly with the influence of two wind seasons. It is the northeast monsoon in the dry season and the southwest monsoon in the rainy season.

The dry season in Da Lat begins from December to the following year March, and the rainy season from April to November. The tropical monsoon climate is seen obviously in the influence of two wind seasons: the northeast monsoon in the dry season and the southwest monsoon in the rainy season. During the northeast monsoon, the weather in Dalat is gradually drier with the sunny clear, cool sky. This period is the best time of the year for tourism and sports activities. The weather is sunny and warm during the day, then cold at night. Also in this season, the relative air humidity reaches the lowest value, about 82%. Da Lat has an abundant average annual rainfall, about 1,600mm.
